Betty Who is back with a new single just in time for Pride and it does NOT disappoint!

Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music ever since the singer dropped her last album, Betty, in early 2019. While we don’t have details on a fourth studio album just yet, if “Blow Out My Candle” is any indication as to where Betty’s artistry is headed, it’s going to be a banger.

“It’s been a long couple years for all of us. I spent my time off learning to bake (of course)…and incessantly thinking all day and all night about what kind of music I wanted to return with,” she said. “‘Blow Out My Candle’ is the story I want to share most. The feeling I held onto in the darkest moments of the last couple years. I hope it gives you the confidence and motivation it gives me.”

Sure enough, the lyrics to “Blow Out My Candle” are clearly an inspirational ode to self-discovery and self-confidence.

“I won’t stop running down that road / I’ll keep dancing til I die / You can blow out my candle / But you’ll never put out my fire,” she sings during the chorus.

The song itself feels perfectly ‘80s-inspired, and the simplistic but energetic and emotive video is reminiscent of all of the aerobics aesthetics of the decade.

As the single’s release coincided with the start of Pride month, Betty also released an actual candle for sale, with part of the proceeds benefiting GLAAD.

She’ll also be performing the song live during iHeartRadio’s upcoming “Can’t Cancel Pride — Proud AND Together” concert on June 14.

New music from one of our faves dropping just in time for Pride month is definitely the best way to kick off this year’s celebration!
