Brian Falduto Drops New Country Love Song for Gays

Country artist Brian Falduto, best known as the sassy scene-stealing gay kid from School of Rock, just released the first single from his upcoming Gay Country EP. “Same Old Country Love Song” is a toe-tapping hit available on all streaming platforms and digital retailers today, Friday, August 5.

“Same Old Country Love Song” is a true country love song for gay guys, with plenty of hot guys in tight blue jeans. Falduto is pitch-perfect with his voice and a light-hearted tongue-in-cheek delivery of the song, co-written with Tom McGovern and produced by Erik Halbig.

“People always seem shocked that I love country music so much and yet I always have,” said Falduto in a press release. “One of the first albums I owned was FAITH by Faith Hill. When Carrie Underwood won American Idol, I started watching country music awards shows and, from there, it was a deep dive.”

Falduto (@brianfalduto) rose to instant stardom as Billy, Jack Black’s sassy stylist in the 2003 cult classic School of Rock. Since then, he’s ditched acting to focus on his work as a life coach and country music artist. Falduto teased “Same Old Country Love Song” on TikTok in early July.

“I’m really proud of what I’ve done here. Don’t get me wrong – I am loving all the new and exciting sounds that are out there these days, particularly much of what’s coming from emerging queer artists who are pushing the envelope,” Falduto said of his work on the upcoming Gay Country EP.

“But with this project, I wanted to return to the classic 1990s/early 2000s vibe that ‘little me’ used to bop around to but could never quite find himself in. I’ve always wondered what it would have been like if smack dab in the middle of the latest Rascal Flatts and Jo Dee Messina hits, a song came on the radio that I didn’t have to search for myself in but that normalized who I was. My new single does just that. I hope it provides some joy, some laughter, and some sense of belonging to those who need it most. If nothing else, it’s certainly done so for the little kid inside of me.”
