Joshua Bassett is ready to release new music into the world, and he’s sharing deets to get fans hyped up for the experience!

Titled Sad Songs in a Hotel Room, the 21-year-old’s third EP looks to be as melancholy as the name suggests, with album art showing a disheveled Bassett sitting in a messy room, strumming a guitar.

“THE ALBUM…isn’t done yet,” he admitted in a tweet announcing his EP. “BUT Sad Songs in a Hotel Room the EP is coming september 23rd!”

Sad Songs In A Hotel Room comes from a transient period of my life, when I was constantly moving from hotel to Airbnb to a friend’s place, while also juggling some intense personal growth and change,” Bassett said. “Each of the songs in this EP tell a different part of the story from that time; each with a different perspective. In some ways, these songs feel like a bridge from one chapter of my life to the next, and I felt an urgency to put them out as I finish my debut album.”

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star released two EPs last year, along with several music videos, leaving fans hopeful that a full-length studio album would be the next thing on the horizon.

While we clearly aren’t there just yet, the promise of still getting new music while we wait has his devoted base ready to throw their money at him all the same.

September 23 is still a couple weeks away, but in the meantime, you can check out Bassett’s new music video for “Smoke Slow” released last month:
