Elton John's Rocket Pictures Appropriates Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

Elton John's Rocket Pictures intends to give Jane Austen's Victorian-era classic Pride and Prejudice an alien make over in an updated version he'll call Pride and Predator.

Elton John's Rocket Pictures intends to give Jane Austen's Victorian-era classic Pride and Prejudice an alien make over in an updated version he'll call Pride and Predator, according to Daily Variety.

John's partner David Furnish told Variety, "It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect."

John will supervise music for Pride and Predator while his Rocket business partners Furnish and Steve Hamilton will produce.

The alien update of the Austen classic comes on the heels of Rocket Pictures' adaptation of a Shakespeare classic, the animated Gnomeo and Juliet, which features James McAvoy and Emily blunt voicing the embattled lovers in a world of warring indoor and outdoor gnomes and is set for release in 2010.
