A French awards' show mistakenly doled out to "I Kissed a Girl" singer Katy Perry for the best international song of the year, but the award was quickly rescinded following a mistake in tabulating the votes and it was handed over to Rihanna for "Disturbia."

The host of NRJ Music Awards in Cannes announced at the end of the show that a mistake in counting the votes had been made, according to Yahoo News.

The awards were handed out based on audience votes on NRJ's website.

But all was not lost for Perry, whose break out hit about kissing girls has made her a star. She picked up an award for best international album for One of the Boys.
