"Jesus would have baked that cake."

After last week's Supreme Court decision in the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case, Denver’s South Broadway Christian Church is making an LGBTQ-friendly statement.

SCOTUS ruled in favor of Jack Phillips, Masterpiece Cakeshop's owner and an evangelical Christian baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple citing his religious beliefs. The court ruled that religion was not given enough consideration in whether he could deny service to a same-sex couple.

Now, the nearby church is challenging Phillip's anti-gay discrimination his own backyard.

"Jesus would've baked that cake," their marquee reads.

Pastor Dustin Adkins wants to make it clear that homophobia has no place in his church.

"Jesus worked with folks on the periphery of society, mistreated and marginalized," Adkins told 9News. “Those folks are the ones he welcomes the most.”
