Soccer Pro Collin Martin Receives Standing Ovation in His First Game Since​ Coming Out

Last Friday night, Minnesota United soccer player Collin Martin publicly came out as gay, although unfortunately, he didn’t get to play in that evening’s came, which coincidentally happened to be the team’s Pride night.

Yesterday, on Independence Day, the 23-year-old midfielder stepped onto the field against Toronto in the 79th minute with over 20,000 fans in attendance.

Immediately, the crowd rose to their feet, waving rainbow pride Minnesota FC scarves.

Following their 4-3 win over Toronto, all the players from the Minnesota Loons, including the coach, greeted Martin to congratulate and support him.
