The MetLife Mature Market Institute and SAGE have teamed up to release a financial planning publication geared specifically to the LGBT community entitled, "Planning Tips for LGBT Individuals and Couples."

Presented by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, in coalition with the AIDS Community Action Fund, the Rock for Equality event aims to raise awareness and funds for the fight to change the law.

Whoopi Goldberg’s documentary on late comedian Moms Mabley, which premieres Monday on HBO, can now say what was kept silent when she was doing her pioneering work — that Moms was a lesbian.

In the latest in our series on women you might not know but should, we spotlight a sitcom star who ran for Congress, then came out — sort of.

Judy Gold always wanted to live in a sitcom. Growing up a too-tall, nerdy budding lesbian in New Jersey, she wanted her home life to be like The Brady Bunch, high school to be like Room 222, college to be like The Facts of Life, and her eventual independent adult life to be like The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

We adore CSI’s Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), Law and Order: SVU’s Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), and Prime Suspect’s Jane (both Maria Bello and Helen Mirren for the U.S. and U.K. versions respectively). But there are a few female cops of bygone eras (and one new hotshot we had to include) that deserve our props, too.

It matters that Diana Nyad is a lesbian and an activist, even if some just want to focus on her swimming.
