The Democratic National Convention concluded on Thursday, as President Barack Obama officially accepted the DNC’s nomination. This year’s DNC was historic for the LGBT community, marking the first time marriage equality has been adopted into the Democratic platform. There were over 500 LGBT delegates present at the convention.
The day after the California supreme court's decision to uphold Prop. 8, the anti-gay marriage ballot that banned same-sex marriage in the state, members of the LGBT community and their straight allies rallied outside the Beverly Hilton while President Obama was inside at the Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Los Angeles, CA. Among rally attendees were Queer as Folk star Hal Sparks, marriage activist Robin Tyler and her wife Diane Olson, and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" activist Lt. Dan Choi, and Courage Campaign founder Rick Jacobs.
"It’s incredible to be part of a moment where we are all motivated by joy rather than fear,” BenDeLaCreme said, referring to the atmosphere of the DNC.
