Here’s some fantastic casting news for your Tuesday. Our favorite take-no-prisoners comic Sarah Silverman has signed on to the cast of Masters of Sex, Showtime’s take on Virginia Johnson and William Masters’ famed experiments around sex and sexuality.

The even better news is that Silverman will recur as Helen, Annaleigh Ashford’s lesbian character Betty’s former girlfriend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Helen is a psychic-leaning palm reader who still has a thing for Betty, according to THR. Betty, as viewers may recall, is a lesbian sex worker who is Masters’ first test subject on the series. Despite Betty’s being gay, she marries a nice man in order to get out of the drudgery of her life, even if it means giving up on real love, so it will be interesting to see how Helen fits in to her life.

The acclaimed series stars Michael Sheen as Masters, Mean Girls star Lizzy Caplan as Virginia Johnson, Caitlin Fitzgerald as the long-suffering Mrs. Masters, Beau Bridges as Masters’ closeted boss, and Allison Janney as his long-suffering wife.

Also new to the cast this season is Breaking Bad’s Betsy Brandt, reports THR.
