If you haven't read Alison Bechdel's graphic memoir Fun Home - about her life growing up in a small town as a lesbian and her relationship with her closeted gay father who ultimately commits suicide - consider it somewhat of an assignement. In fact, it is literally an assignment in many LGBT college courses and rightfully so. Now, Fun Home has transcended its pages and is gearing up for a Broadway run starting this March at Circle in the Square Theatre. An intimate musical about death and lesbianism may seem like a risk for the normally incredibly commercial Great White Way, but Fun Home has more than proved itself a place worth visiting. The show already played a very successful Off-Broadway run at the Public Theater in 2013 and won five best musical awards in the process. Now, to get yourself more familiar with what's about to be your new favorite musical, check out Alison Bechdel's personal Journey to Broadway video, in which she explores just what it's like to watch your most emotional moments come to life on one of the world's biggest stages.
