WATCH: Pharell Comes Out for Gender, Marriage Equality on Ellen

The "Happy" singer described his amazement that equality is still a battle in present day.

We're always "Happy" to see dynamic duo Pharrell Williams and Ellen DeGeneres together -- and the musical phenomenon's appearance on the comedienne's talk show yesterday was no exception.

In his segment on Ellen, Williams talked about his new album, G  I  R  L, and why he's so inspired by women.

"I have a huge affinity for them," he said, citing the unusual stylization of the album's title as a hope that it would stand out. "But at the same time, there's a lot of inequality with women."

He doubled down on that call for equality not just for women, but for all people.

"We have legislators and legislation in place that tells women what they can and can't do with their bodies," Williams said. "And when I say equality, I mean equality for everybody. Who are you telling who they can marry and who they can't? What is this? This is 2014.
