WATCH: Soccer Star Megan Rapinoe Bares All For ESPN Body Issue
ESPN released the list of athletes appearing in this year’s ESPN Magazine Body Issue.
Out soccer player Megan Rapinoe will be featured alongside Venus Williams (five-time Wimbledon champion), Jamie Anderson (Olympic snow boarding gold-medalist), Coco Ho (professional surfer), Ginger Huber (cliff diver), Amy Purdy (Paralympic snowboarder) and others.
Rapinoe caught our attention in 2011 with an assist to Abby Wambach in the final seconds of the 2011 Women’s FIFA World Cup to tie with Brazil and later win to advance to the finals. Yet, according to USWNT, Rapinoe’s career stalled just before leaving college after suffering season-ending knee injuries two seasons in a row.
Despite her ACL injuries, Rapinoe has made a name for herself on the global soccer platform. In 2012, Rapinoe started all six games during her first Olympic tournament and scored her first Olympic goal during the 3-0 Colombia victory.
