It's only just been announced, but we officially can't wait for HBO's new show/reboot Westworld. Sure, it's only in pilot stages, but with the punch-packing pitch it's carrying, there's sure to be a full series order on the horizon. So what is Westworld?
Entertainment Weekly describes it best: "The 1973 version of Westworld—from techno-thriller author Michael Crichton—was about a futuristic theme park populated with robot characters who malfunctioned and attacked the guests." So basically, it's everything we could have dreamed of and more. Even better, one of our favorite actresses ever, Evan Rachel Wood, has signed on as Dolores Abernathy, described as, "provincial, beautiful and kind. Dolores is the quintessential farm girl of the frontier West—who is about to discover that her entire idyllic existence is an elaborately constructed lie.” We do imagine it is quite jarring to discover you live in a world where robots might attack you. Anthony Hopkins is also signed on as the theme park's creative director and chief programmer, so expect that to take a deliciously sinister turn. Bring it on, HBO!
