3 Ways Kristen Stewart's Mom Crossed a Line By Outing Her as Bisexual

The internet is awash with praise for Kristen Stewart's "right-on" mom, who has just told UK newspaper the Mirrorthat her daughter is in a same-sex partnership. But was it really her business to do so?

1. She discussed her daughter's private life with the media.

Wow. So let's this straight (as it were). Kristen's own mother has gone to the press to dish out juicy gossip about what her daughter's been up to (and presumably been greeted with a decent financial reward for doing so). Whether she'd just joined a nunnery on top of a remote mountain or was spending every night chained to the chandeliers in sadomasochistic orgies, the details would have been irrelevant – Kristen is the only one who should be discussing what she's doing in the bedroom. It's one thing getting the baby pics out – this is something else. Cringeworthy.

2. She outed her.

It is never OK to out anyone. Never. Ever. Especially if they are your child. Kristen's always been pretty reserved about discussing her relationships, repeatedly refusing to answer interviewers when asked if she was dating her alleged girlfriend, so this new turn of events seems pretty fishy to us. Did her mother check with her or not? It's great that she's so supportive, but discussing your sexuality is the kind of thing you don't really want a spokesperson for.

3. She kind of trivializes Kristen's supposed new relationship

“They were a great couple,” she says of Kristen and her ex Robert Pattison, “but she’s 25 years old and I’d like to see her have a lot more life experience before she chooses someone to settle down with.” So she's not really holding out much hope for Kristen's new squeeze actually lasting, then, despite her being “a nice girl”? No, we don't get it either.
