'Pretty Little Liars' Creator Marlene King Dishes on the Summer Season Finale!

'Pretty Little Liars' Creator Marlene King Dishes on the Summer Season Finale!

Pretty Little Liars last episode left viewers wanting more, and tonight, with the summer finale, viewers will get just that – more mystery and drama. When last we saw the liars, Dr. Sullivan was discovered missing and Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna were all left thinking that “A” had struck again. Pretty Little Liars creator Marlene King answered a few burning questions about the finale during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. If you recall --and what lesbian fan of the show wouldn’t? --Maya, Emily’s first lesbian love, had returned but the writers left the audience wondering if Maya and Emily would pick up where they left off, or even if Maya was sticking around.

If you recall -- and what lesbian fan of the show wouldn’t? -- Maya, Emily’s first lesbian love, had returned but the writers left the audience wondering if Maya and Emily would pick up where they left off, or even if Maya was sticking around.

Here’s King talking to THR about Maya’s return:

THR: Maya is back in Emily’s life, but is she back for good?

King: She’s back in the finale and it answers that question, in terms of what’s going to be the state of their relationship and how their relationship will continue from this point on."

The girls of Pretty Little Liars get down and dirty during a wedding that takes place during tonight’s finale.

THR: A wedding takes place in the finale and the cast teased that there’s mud involved.

King: The finale definitely recreates the second poster that ABC Family did for this show. It’s definitely four pretty little liars in pretty dresses covered in dirt. The finale starts with them at the police station covered in dirt and then it goes back 12 hours – it’s the first time we’ve skipped around to do time jumps. It’s literally what happened, how did these girls get here and what have they done."

Of course everyone wants to know who “A” really is! King talks about the revealing of who “A” really is and how big of a deal it’s going to be.

THR: Whenever the reveal of who "A" is made, how big do you think that will be?

King: I think it’s going to be huge. I think we’ll have two huge moments -- three actually -- when we reveal who killed Alison/who is “A,” because it may or may not be the same person. Now that we have a grasp on what Season 3 is going to be, that is going to unleash a mystery that is going to be as big of a question as who is “A” – at least we hope.
