The controversial lesbian love story movie from Israel, Lipstikka, makes it North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival September 18th, according to Xtra.ca.
Lipstikka follows the lives of two childhood friends, Lara and Inam, whose friendship evolves into lovers while discovering their sexuality. They decide one night, while bored, to break the Israeli government enforced curfew to sneak out and see a movie in the Jewish part of Jerusalem. Exiting from the theater Lara and Inam are approached by two Israeli soldiers who decide to abuse their authority and force themselves on to the girls.
Reuniting with each other 15 years later in London, the two women begin to determine the truth of what really happened on their regrettable trip to Jerusalem and “realize that what they remember from their past may not necessarily reflect what indeed happened.” According to Lipstikka-themovie.com.
