Tara and Pam Make It Official During 'True Blood' Season Finale

Most fans of True Blood haven’t been too happy with the storylines this season, but last night’s finale of Season 5, entitled “Save Yourself,” definitely gave everyone something to look forward to when Season 6 begins next summer.

SPOILER ALERT

Most fans of True Blood haven’t been too happy with the storylines this season, but last night’s finale of Season 5, entitled “Save Yourself,” definitely gave everyone something to look forward to when Season 6 begins next summer.

First of all, can we just talk about Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten)? A relationship that started as maker and baby vamp has evolved into a genuine relationship for the duo. Last night they capped off their season long flirtation with a kiss. Tara and Sookie were busting Pam and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) out of the cellblock at the Authority headquarters, and after the girls were released, Tara grabbed her maker and planted a HUGE kiss on Pam. To which Jessica, who was watching from down the hall, responded with a well timed “I knew it!”

And today, we have to give thanks to HBO for releasing extra footage featuring Tara, Pam, Jessica, Nora (Lucy Griffiths), and Jason (Ryan Kwanten). The short two-minute scene shows the group after they’ve said goodbye to Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård ) and started to make their way out of the headquarters.

During the scene, Tara and Pam continue their flirtation as they converse about making it out alive. As Tara is loading her weapon she looks over to Pam and says,"You better not go and get yourself killed, ya hear? Cause you and I got a date. It's been a long time comin'."

To which Pam replied, "If that's not an impetus to survive, I don't know what is." Do we really have to wait 10 months to see them consummate their relationship, really?!?!

Meanwhile, Sookie and Eric are upstairs trying to get Bill (Stephen Moyer) to come back to reality (well, True Blood reality that is), and stop being such a bad guy. Most of the season,  Bill has been obsessed with taking over ultimate power of all the vamps worldwide, a power in which is he convinced was bestowed upon him by Lilith. Sookie and Eric find him, try to show him the error of his ways, and bam…..he’s met the true death. But, in Alan Ball’s world, you know that’s not going to last long. Bill re-emerges from the bloody mess a stronger, more evil vampire. Roll credits. Again, we have to wait almost a year to see how this is going to shake out.

Then you have Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar) trying to save Luna’s daughter from the Authority. Sam shifts into a fly and flies into the vents, he breaks Luna out but apparently the need to make the powers that be pay for their lack of hospitality (to say the least). They come up with a plan and Luna shifts into Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) and goes on live TV, initially to explain why 22 frat boys were drained, and she ends up shifting in front of a live audience only after she warns the viewers, "vampires are keeping humans here to feed off of!" She then passes out. Guess we’re gonna have to wait to see if she survives the shift.

Lastly, you have Alcide (Joe Manganiello). During this season he has evolved from lone wolf to full on packmaster. Under his guidance, we’re definitely going to see some positive Vamp-Wolf relations.

Oh, and sayonara Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare), it’s been fun!

To that, we say goodbye to Bon Temps for another year. Sigh…..
