Here are our top three!

Tomboy, played by newcomer Zoe Heran, was directed by Celine Sciamma who also directed the acclaimed Water Lilies.  Sciamma’s sophomore film Tomboy, tells the story of a 10-year-old girl, a tomboy, who poses as a boy with a new circle of friends.

Laure Charpentier's Gigola, was at hit at the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. Adapted from one of Charpentier’s novels, George, played by Lou Doillon, falls for her mature teacher. When George’s lover commits suicide, she decides to make a change. George evolves into a charismatic, androgynous young female gigolo in France circa 1960.

Lisas Aschan made her directoral debut with She Monkeys, a coming of age Swedish film about a sexually charged rivalry between a pair of teenage girls on a young women’s equestrian acrobatic team. The film won Best Narrative Feature at the Tribeca film festival.

So, there you have it! These films, along with a few others, will be released in cinemas and/or on DVD in the UK within the next 12 months.
