Ellen Thinks Portia's Perfect Just the Way She Is: Video

With the release of her book Unbearable Lightness, Portia de Rossi is making the talk show rounds, speaking openly about her battle with anorexia and coming out as a lesbian in the ‘industry.’ Portia first broke silence on The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday and today she chatted with her wife Ellen DeGeneres, on Ellen’s show.

Portia candidly revealed to Ellen that Ellen’s famous coming out while starring on a hit show in 1998 was a “litmus test” for lesbians to come out in the future. And when Portia, who was starring on the mega-hit Ally McBeal at the time, saw how the industry blacklisted Ellen for a few years, it sent a clear message to gays in the business.

Discussing her body image issues that began when she was just 12 or 13, Portia said she never felt right about her body but that she is more accepting than ever today.

“When I look in the mirror today I really do accept myself from head to toe. This is exactly the weight I’m supposed to be. I realized it’s taking me a long time; you can’t fit a size 8 foot into a size 6 shoe,” Portia said. “It’s just not going to happen. So when I look in the mirror I realize this is what I’m supposed to be…I don’t think that I’m perfect at all.”

“I do,” Ellen replied.
