Actress Heather Matarazzo (Welcome to the Dollhouse, Saved, The L Word) says she’s planning to wed her long-time fiancée Caroline Murphy now that same-sex marriage is legal in New York, according to the AP.
But Matarazzo, who has said she and Murphy planned to wed in California before Proposition 8’s passing dashed those plans, did not head down to City Hall on the first day of legal same-sex weddings in New York this Sunday. Rather, Matarazzo and Murphy are planning a dream wedding they told the AP.
"I always wanted a wedding," Murphy said. "Not a trip to City Hall."
Details are still in the planning stages, but Matarazzo said she is set on wearing a simple, off-white dress for the ceremony. Though she hasn’t found it yet, the actress said she is confident she’ll come across the right one. “When I see it I will just know.”
Conversely, Murphy said she envisions herself in a “sexy” white pantsuit for her trip down the aisle.
The couple said they are eager to start a family after the wedding and plan to both adopt and have children of their own. Matarazzo said, "We've always talked that Caroline would have a child first, and then I will go."
Although the road to marriage has been a bumpy one, Murphy said she knew the day would come since the moment she met Matarazzo.
Murphy said that after she met Matarazzo for the first time she called her mother and said, “Mom, I just met my wife.”
