This is great news for fans of indie musical icon and out lesbian singer-songwriter, Melissa Ferrick. The musical force whose last release was the critically acclaimed Goodbye Youth is set to debut her first studio release in five years, Still Right Here, this fall.

New York City’s MPress Records will release the new album September 13. Featuring guest vocals from friend and frequent tour mate, Ani DiFranco and guitar by the formidable Kaki King, the new 10-song album promises to be worth the wait for Ferrick’s devoted fans.

“I’m glad I’ve gotten as far as I have. I’m glad I’ve survived the industry and its changes, that I can still make a living playing shows and making records,” Ferrick says of her musical career to date, which already spans 20 years and 16 albums. “And whenever I start to think maybe I shouldn’t do this, I try to remember that it’s no accident that I’ve written 150 songs, and people are still coming to shows. I’ll just keep doing this until I’m not doing it anymore.”

You can catch Ferrick on tour this fall and summer, performing both with DiFranco and at solo dates.
