SheWireds Favorite Oscar Fashions: Penelope Cruz, Mila Kunis, Anne Hathaway + More

Even though lesbian family friendly film 'The Kids Are All Right' did not snatch any top honors away from 'The King’s Speech', Hollywood’s female heavyweights made delightful, daring, and dazzling designer showings on the most fashionable red carpet of the year at The Oscars. Even though lesbian family friendly film The Kids Are All Right did not snatch any top honors away from The King’s Speech or The Social Network, Hollywood’s female heavyweights made delightful, daring, and in some cases, down right delicious designer showings on the most fashionable red carpet of the year, The Oscars.

While SheWired editor in chief Tracy Gilchrist tweeted away through out the telecast, today we’ll gently remind you of all of the wonderful and woeful gowns that adorned the silver screen's most adored actresses.

First, we celebrate the victorious return of SheWired crush Penelope Cruz to the red carpet. She thankfully shows no signs of toning down her scorching hotness now that she’s a new mother. A special thank you to Pen, that red L'Wren Scott dress, and of course, nature for her beautiful bosom one month after giving birth. This dress brings new meaning to the term 'hot Mama.'

Cate Blanchett wasn’t nominated this year, but thank gosh she showed up to inject some serious couture cache into last night’s blasé Academy Awards. With flawless hair and skin (as always), Cate rocked a light lavender Givenchy Couture dress with pearls and yellow detailing on the front band back. Every other actress in a basic ball gown or slinky sheath—take note—that’s how a fashion icon does it.

Anne Hathaway hosted her pretty little heart out in half dozen (plus) designer outfits. While reviews on her emcee abilities are mixed, most everyone agrees the brunette beauty looked stunning in designs by Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, fringe-tastic Oscar de la Renta, and others. Lesbian fans everywhere doubtlessly felt a flutter when Annie owned menswear in a black tux--ala Judy Garland-- with Brian Atwood glitter pumps.

Halle Berry is probably the best dressed woman in most rooms. She definitley made a strong showing at the Kodak Theater when she paid tribute to Lena Horne in a nude and crystal encrusted Marchesa dress cascacading in organza and silk tulle ruffles and somewhere under all thar, a pair of Christian Louboutin heels.

True Grit nominee Hailee Steinfeld has our vote for America’s next tween sweetheart. Aside from nailing a killer performance in her starring debut, she refreshingly dresses age appropriate. Hailee is luminescent in her peachy fresh frock among a sea of over-exposed starlets. She even changed into her Chuck Taylor's for the after parties.

Mandy Moore definitively dashed any comparisons to former contemporaries Britney or Xtina when she appeared on stage to sing her nominated number from Tangled in a divine, dreamy blue gown. Unfortunately, Moore looked severe and overly polished earlier on the red carpet in a nude and sparkly Monique Lhuillier gown.

Aniston may have to step down, there’s a new blond Jen who annihilates the competition by being red hot on the awards show carpets. Keeping it simple in a fiery Calvin Klein Collection dress made by Francisco Costa, Winter’s Bone nominee Jennifer Lawrence wore the undisputed sexiest dress of the night.

Mila Kunis may not have been nominated, but she stands out as one of the best dressed from the Oscars. Wearing a revealing and ravishing Elie Saab Haute Couture lavender chiffon dress with tiered lace details, Kunis continued to take our breath away.

Annette Bening easily out sparkled her ravishing Naeem Khan gown but her best accessory of the night: her dazzling smile. How lucky is Warren Beatty to take that beauty home every night?
