The first Star was born in 1937 with, and throughout the years, the popular romance film A Star Is Born has been remade to include Judy Garland (1954), and Barbra Streisand (1976). And with the Los Angeles Times reporting that talks are underway for yet another remake we at SheWired thought there was no better time like the present than to suggest some alternative leads in a lesbian remake.
While current talks are circling Russell Crowe and Grammy record-breaker Beyonce - for a couple that rivals The Bodyguard's Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston -- we'd much rather see a new twist on an old story, instead of well, the same old story.

Or say we keep Beyonce and pair her with Tracy Chapman instead of Crowe? It's bad enough he's got his paws all over Cate Blanchett in the new Robin Hood flick.
What about Alanis Morrissette as the mentor and Joss Stone as the student who reinvigorates her? Morrissette, in addition to playing the voice of God in Kevin Smith's Dogma recently had a guest arc on Showtime's Weeds and Stone has a few episodes of the period piece The Tudors under her belt.

Maybe we could just go all out with dream casting: Madonna as the professor with Pink who's hot for teacher.
How about Canadian crooner and occasional actress KD Lang (think Salmonberries) as the grizzled country star on her way out and original Idol Kelly Clarkson stepping into the star-making role?
There's always the all-male Star Is Born: Elton John tutoring Rufus Wainwright? Too gay? George Michael and Adam Lambert?
Who would you like to see fill the famed roles in a gay-themed remake?
