It seems like every couple years the fashion magazines cycle around to featuring “real bodies” or plus size models... for one extra special edition, multi-page section, only. Proudly parading these as progressive imagery in the killer world of thin-to-the-bone fashion.
Why? No one knows. Is it to mirror the mass of their audience? Probably not; most of the “plus size” models are still more svelte than the average American woman. V magazine seems set to change all that with their “curvy issue,” hitting newsstands on January 14.
While there’s a thought provoking spread featuring plus-size super model Crystal Renn going shot-to-shot against the model body type of super thin Jacquelyn Jablonski in a model-off [above], it’s the “curves ahead” pictorial, featuring some of the hottest models ever seen donning dresses, denim and dangerously little else for a sexy, provocative set of pictures that's really revolutionary.

The luscious ladies like Candice Huffine, Tara Lynn and Michelle Olson put the usual bags of bones seen on the glossy pages to shame making the issue a must read.
V editor-in-chief Stephen Gan said in a simple statement: “Big, little, pint-size, plus-size—every body is beautiful.” Truer words…
