10 Steps to Picking up a Guy and/or Workout Buddy
You’ve been busting your ass off for a while now. It’s official. This gym thing is definitely not a phase. You’ve developed the ideal workout that sculpts your body just the way you like it. You’ve found a pre-workout supplement and a post-workout protein powder to call your own. You’ve completely restructured your life to always be seconds from a toilet... because God knows that creatine just shoots right through you.
There’s only thing left to do: Get a gym partner. You need that spotter to help you up your weight and get those last few reps in. How do you get him? The same way you’d pick up any cute guy at the bar.
Step 1: Scope out the field
Always need to check out your options. This is a serious commitment. You don’t want to be stuck with a flakey dude who can’t pull his weight (or yours).
Step 2: Decide whether to approach him
You felt all cocky walking in there, but suddenly you’re freaking out. He’s too this. He’s too that. He probably already has a partner who just couldn’t be there today.
Step 3: Build up the courage to talk to him
Maybe it’s a shot of tequila or that last rep, but blood is pumping through your veins. You can do this.
Step 4: Figure out what you want to say
Oh, shit. Wait. What should you say? Do you need a spot? Correct his form? Urgh. Don’t complicate this. Just ask him to spot you.
Step 5: Flatter
Men who go to the gym need the MOST validation. Grab his bicep. Tell him how big he’s looking.
Step 6: Express your compatibility
What? You bench two plates too? What are the odds? So do I.
Step 7: Ask when he’s free
You don’t want this to be a one night stand. This has the potential to be something serious. True love.
Step 8: Get those digits
Don’t let him off the hook. Get them digits. It’s now or never.
Step 9: Set a date
Avoid nerve-wracking texting. Set up a time to meet right then and there.
Step 10: Freak out and tell all your friends
You did it. You’ve successfully found yourself a partner. Let the world know.
