Female Photographer Cross-Dressed Through the Middle East
Travelling alone for a woman can be dangerous in difficult in places like Afghanistan.
While traveling through the Middle East, a Yahoo! Editor met Candace Lau, a 28-year-old Chinese-Australian photographer. Lau was traveling through the region dressed in men’s clothes and, thanks to neutral facial features, was assumed to be a man. When she would interact with men she would maintain the façade, but if she conversed with women she would tell them the truth so that they would be more open to her.
