It seems someone has fallen asleep on the job down at Facebook, allowing yet another Anti-LGBT page to survive on the popular social networking site.

A group page called ‘im a women LOL JK I’m the guard from poundland’ has members of the transgender community enraged, reports PinkNews. It appears the page was dedicated to “belittling and intimidating” a security guard employed at Poundland, the UK version of the 99 Cent Store, who is also transgender.

True to naive homophobic form, comments posted include: “anyone got a photo of the ugly tranny? Put it on here and have a giggle,” and “a heard it wasn’t even human but a reptile.”

Paris Scarlett Lees, a journalist and blogger, revealed the page to the transgender community resulting in multiple reports to Facebook and the local police. An investigation is believed to be underway regarding the administrator(s) of the page.

Sadly, this isn’t the first instance where Facebook has let a discriminatory page slip under the radar. Last year, a page sprung up inciting and organizing attacks on a pro-gay march in Serbia. It wasn’t until the issue was brought up to Facebook’s press office – weeks after the first complaints were submitted – that any action was taken.

Facebook executives declined to comment on any case specifically, but have adamantly denied any anti-LGBT agenda.

“We encourage people to report anything they feel violates our policies using the report links which are on every page across the site,” a spokeswoman of Facebook states. “Our highly trained team of expert reviewers will then prioritise reports, remove any content or people in violation and escalate issues to law enforcement when appropriate.”
