The 2023 Grammy nominations rolled in this morning and it's a great year for LGBTQ+ musicians!

The usual pop icons are in the running, with Beyoncé, Adele, and Kendrick Lamar leading the pack. Queen Bey's beautifully queer R&B/dance albumRenaissance received eight nominations, including Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Record of the Year. With these categories, Beyoncé has officially become the most Grammy-nominated artist in the history of the Recording Academy surpassing her husband, Jay Z.

Bisexual rocker Steve Lacy and lesbian singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile also found themselves nominated in two of the four big categories alongside LGBTQIAdjacents Harry Styles and Lizzo. Carlile lands seven total nominations and Lacy nabbed four.

Three of the acts nominated for Best New Artist are LGBTQ+: rising R&B star Omar Apollo, Brazillian dance-pop star Anitta, and Italian rock band Måneskin. This is all of their first nominations.

Kim Petras also earned her first Grammy nomination for her surprise hit song with Sam Smith, "Unholy" in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category. "Omg maybe i’ll b a tranny with a grammy," she tweeted earlier today.

Even though she did not release an album this year, Lady Gaga was nominated in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category for her Top Gun contribution, “Hold My Hand.” Diplo and Kaytranada both picked up nominations in the Dance/Electronic categories. The Brothers Osborne nabbed a spot in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category.
