DC Universe's Titans Casts Trans Model Chella Man as Newest Hero
"As a trans, Deaf, Jewish person of color, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences."
Deaf, genderqueer, trans model Chella Man has just been cast as Jericho on season two of DC Universe's superhero series Titans.
"Son of the infamous DC villain Deathstroke (played by Esai Morales), Joseph Wilson is the Titan known as Jericho," reads DC's character description of Jericho. "Mute after his father failed to rescue him from having his vocal cords severed by assassins, Jericho has the unique ability to possess anyone just by making eye contact. This gentle natured yet proud hero has proven himself a formidable Titan."
As Jericho, Chella Man will have the power to control people's bodies with his gaze, speaking through them with their own voices, language, and vocabulary.
Chella Man is hyped for the representation he's bringing to the show. "As a trans, Deaf, Jewish person of color, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences," he wrote on Instagram. "It is a dream come true, now, as I will be able to showcase this power on the Titans."
