Sabrina Carpenter is taking over Fortnite and video game bros are big mad about it.
The singer is "headlining" the latest iteration of Fortnite Festival, a performance-based game spun off from Fortnite itself. But the real win here is that it’s introduced a number of Sabrina-themed customization options to the game that allow players to deck their characters out to look like Sabrina and emote or dance to some of her songs, among other things.
This has taken Fortnite by storm. Fans of Carpenter (or of fun in general) have been posting videos in which they spoof the "Juno" positions she’s been doing on her tour, have dance-offs, and otherwise just flood the game with little(r) Sabrinas.
Despite this being something many are clearly downright delighted by, those inclined towards gatekeeping have been hilariously melting down over having to share virtual space with an influx of digital pop stars.
"Sabrina Carpenter has RUINED Fortnite," wrote one account that has repeatedly posted goofy complaints about people having fun with the skin.
"Grown men absolutely seething over Sabrina Carpenter having a skin in Fortnite is so strange"
"FORTNITE FACT: Sabrina Carpenter received a large wave of backlash and hate when she was introduced to Fortnite Festival. This is a clever reference to how the majority of Fortnite's fanbase are sexist incels."
But no matter how much Carpenter’s inclusion makes a certain subset of dudes cry, many players continue to be determined to have a good time invading Fortnite as the "Espresso" singer.
"i reinstalled Fortnite for the first time in 5 years yall dont understand how much i love Sabrina Carpenter"
