Fans Are Petitioning to #SaveSpidey & Bring Him Back to the MCU

Is there a chance Spider-Man's place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be saved? The fans sure hope so...

byraffy

All fandom hell broke loose yesterday when it was revealed that after a financial dispute between Disney-owned Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, the fate of legendary superhero Spider-Man (aka Peter Parker, played by the lovely Tom Holland) and his place in the extremely popular Marvel Cinematic Universe would be left up in the air.

Not ones to back down easily, Marvel fans quickly went on the offensive and took to Twitter to air out their frustrations about the whole situtation, with hashtags like #SaveSpidey and #SaveSpiderMan quickly trending worldwide.

Even celebs weighed in on the controversy, including Holland's Avengers co-star Jeremy Renner and Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds.

While Sony, who currently owns the rights to the Spider-Man IP, did release a statement about Marvel's involvement in future Spidey movies and how they hope the whole situation changes, it's understandable that many fans are upset, especially since the character has been so well-received in recent MCU movies.

*sigh*

Will we everget the chance to see a bisexual Spider-man on the big screen?!?
