35 Thoughts You Have When You Break Up Before The Holidays
The holidays are a magical time. Leaves changing. Thanksgiving. First snow. Christmas. New Years. Spending time with loved ones and family members. Cuddling with that special someone under the covers while you sip on hot chocolate and watch Netflix together.
Which is why it absolutely sucks to break up with your boyfriend/girlfriend before the holidays. And when that happens, you can’t help but have a few things cross your mind.
1. Was it the right decision breaking up?
2. Maybe I should have waited longer?
3. It was just a rough patch.
4. Why couldn’t I have waited until after winter?
5. I’ve never felt lonelier.
6. Maybe I should get back together with her/him.
7. I mean, I still do love him/her.
8. And we were really cute together.
9. No, definitely not. Things were not working. There’s no way it could work out.
10. This is for the better.
11. I’ll get over this.
12. I just need to meet someone new.
13. Isn’t everyone desperate around the holidays?
14. I can’t be the only one.
15. Who wants to be alone this time of year?
16. I wonder if s/he’s dating someone else?
17. Do not start thinking those thoughts.
18. It’s a slippery slope.
19. Of course I want him/her to be happy, and I would be happy for him/her, but like…
20. Well I know I should be happy for him/her, but I wouldn’t be happy just yet.
21. Let’s be real, I’d be upset.
22. Jealous.
23. But you know what? That makes sense. It’s too soon.
24. We’ll be friends down the line. Just not yet.
25. Who knows? Maybe once we’ve both matured and have our shit together we’ll date again.
26. Or not.
27. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
28. So where are they?
29. Maybe now’s a good time to be single. Enjoy the single life.
30. Urgh. Sounds so depressing.
31. No. This is good. This is growth. Being single is good.
32. Let’s just focus on family. Let’s not even think about boys/girls.
33. Yeah, OK. Good.
34. LOL... Not think about boys/girls... OK... like that’s going to happen.
35. Whatever. I’ll just watch a rom com and cry. Happy freakin' holidays.
