Dykes and Dandies to Take Over New York’s Manderley Bar

Break out your waistcoats, garters and bowties, because this Thursday, March 28th, New York’s transcendently vintage Manderley Bar will turn magically dandy. Or rather, Dandy/Ette.

Break out your waistcoats, garters and bowties, because this Thursday, March 28th, New York’s transcendently vintage Manderley Bar will turn magically dandy. Or rather, Dandy/Ette.

Hosted by the ever-dapper boi-about-town Emily Hall Smith, the special soiree will at last transform the McKittrick Hotel’s velvet-curtained parlor (home to the ravishing theater-for-one experience “Sleep No More”) into a den of “dandies, dykes, pansies, and fops…for an evening of debauchery and dandification.” Live jazz will kick off at 10 p.m., followed by sets by DJ TRx and DJ Average Jo until 4 a.m., with a special midnight performance by Ani Taj and The Dance Cartel.

Alongside Smith will be her 1930s-fabulous crew, “Lady of the Parlour” Bevin Branlandingham (of Rebel Cupcake), “Dandy of the Den” Brian Belukha (of Judy), and “Dapper at the Door” Nicky Cutler (of Yes Ma’am).

Smith’s production company Boy Wonder Events is now officially drawing the New York limelight, thanks to Hot Rabbit Fridays (named “Best Gay Party” by Time Out NY) and the new monthly Sweet Fox-Rebel Cupcake bash. This premiere Dandy/Ette event will showcase the flair of the lovely ladies and their dapper dates further uptown…or at least in Chelsea.

$5 advance tickets are selling fast at: web.ovationtix.com/trs/pe/9767860. Though don’t be discouraged if you miss them – more may become available at the door ($10 after midnight). Don’t miss the $5 absinthe shots to complete your Jazz Age journey.

Dandy/Ette, Thursday, March 28th, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Manderley Bar in the McKittrick Hotel, 532 West 27th Street (between Tenth and Eleventh Aves.)
