Anne Hathaway Is Starring in a Remake of 'The Witches'

This is some seriously spellbinding news!

It looks like Oscar winner and longtime LGBT ally Anne Hathaway has been confirmed to star in a new movie adaptation of author Roald Dahl's beloved children's novel, The Witches!

It's been a long road for the Genovian princess, with many iconic movies in her rear view mirror, but this particular flick is sure to bring on the nostalgia! Not only is The Witches popular with the late-'80s/early-'90s kids, but the movie also remains a staple for the gays who love everything having to do with witchcraft!

According to a report by Variety, the Ocean’s 8 actress was cast by Warner Bros. as the Grand High Witch, a role previously portrayed on the screen by the legendary Anjelica Huston in the 1990 adaptation.

This new telling of the story is set to be helmed by legendary Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis, with help from Roma director Alfonso Cuarón and The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro, Variety also reports.

Fans of The Witches were quick to vocalize their excitement on social media...

While a release date still remains shrouded in mystery (along with any additional information about the film), with Anne on board, fans can definitely expect a truly spellbinding spectacle! (And hopefully a cameo from Huston herself, too! *crosses fingers*)
