5 Reasons Troye Sivan's "Youth" Video is the Best Thing We've Seen All Month
McKennaMagazine

This week, musical artist/YouTuber Troye Sivan released his most recent music video, this one for the song "Youth." It didn't take long for people to start falling in love with the video, sharing it to various social media outlets, making comments on Facebook, and writing reviews and analyses on Tumblr.

After a quick view of the 3-minute video, we understand why. Here are just a few reasons we love it so much, and you might too:

1. It's queer as hell

The setting and story of the video are simple -- it's a teenage/millenial house party. Where it goes from being good to awesome in is all of the LGBT representation.

There are couples galore in the video, some straight, some with two girls, and some with two guys. Hell, Troye Sivan himself stars in the video appearing very smitten with a handsome blond fellow.

Diverse representation of different kinds of relationships, sexualities, and identities? Sign us up!

Which brings us to...

2. The very deliberate shot of a "Make America Gay Again" baseball cap

Need we say more?

3. Sets and lighting

The entire video is made to look like a dreamy neon hideaway. It just gives you the sense that if we were somehow magically able to hop into this world Sivan's created for us, everything would be beautiful and nothing would ever hurt again.

Christmas lights framing a hallway, pink and blue spotlights on a roller rink, and a perfectly lit blanket fort swarming with pillows and stuffed animals? #TheDream

4. Amandla Stenberg cameo

The actor/activist/Hunger Games star makes a surprise appearance in the video and quickly (and predictably) steals our hearts.

We're ready to make a Stenberg cameo a requirement for every music video in the future.

5. The song

"Youth" is one of Sivan's best so far (which is saying something because all of his tunes are top notch).

This song does exactly what it's supposed to do -- it gets us dancing, makes us smile, and keeps us on our toes, anxious to see/hear what Sivan does next.
