Kehlani Swooning Over an Androgynous Woman in the 'Honey' Music Video Made Us Melt
"I like my girls just like I like my honey, sweet."
Badass and openly bisexual singer Kehlani is changing the face of R&B and the pop music world. Her latest music video for her saccharine acoustic track "Honey" is a romantic exploration of a same-sex relationship.
Kehlani swoons over an androgynous woman during the three-and-a-half minute song, smoking together, embracing during a sunset, and simply enjoying each other's company. "All the pretty girls in the world," she croons, "but I'm in the space with you."
The 22-year-old shared her reasoning for featuring model Aarianna Johnson as her love interest on Instagram:
"This song was inspired by an androgynous woman, and I wanted to find someone who fell in line with that, who was 'hard' yet so so soft (yes, like a bee). I was asked 'why not use a feminine girl? ,' but I knew I wanted to honor the inspiration, and paint the picture of the sweet tender aspect that shines through every woman, no matter what."
