Sam Smith Celebrates Ball Culture in Calvin Harris Collab 'Promises'
“It’s fantasy. One hundred percent fantasy.”
In their newest single "Promises," Sam Smith and Calvin Harris showcase some of New York City's stunning ball culture.
The electric video begins with documentary-style interviews of dancers explaining why they love vogueing. "Finding Vogue, it allowed me to express myself in a way that I couldn’t express myself anywhere else," said one dancer.
Another added, "It’s fantasy. One hundred percent fantasy."
It then cuts to a runway, where the dancers are rhinestoned for the gods for a full-blown ball.
"Never had so much fun shooting a video," Smith wrote on Instagram. "Felt like a normal horse meat disco Sunday night in Vauxhall haha!"
