Remember those weird, funny AF, and slightly shady tweets from pop legend Lady Gaga a few months back? You know, the ones where she pulled an "I don't know her!" on her own 2013 album Artpop and the ones where she lamented about how fame and fortune are actually a prison?
Well, we do, and we've been absolutely dying to hear the backstory behind them ever since they landed on our timelines.

And now it looks like the wait is finally over. In a recent interview for the May cover story of InStyle, the Oscar-winning singer-songwriter opened up about her bizarre yet hilarious tweets, revealing what we suspected all along: it was all just a big social experiment and she's just trying to figure out Twitter's algorithm. (We're sure social media editors all over the globe are glowing in the relatability.)
"I'm trying to crack the code that is the algorithm of the internet, and I will do so in various ways," Gaga told InStyle. "You may not always understand why an 'f' tweet gets that many likes. Who knows why? It was just a social experiment. I'm trying to understand people."

She continued:
"I post some things from my personal life, I post some things from my business life, I post some things from my musical life," she said. "But I will say that I'm not super-obsessed with reading comments or counting likes or making sure everybody loves everything. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if the people who invented social media all got in a room and went, 'Let's start something where nobody has to be brave and ever.'"
Same, Gaga. Same.
