Years & Years Is Now Olly Alexander's Solo Project
The pop band's line-up has shifted just ahead of their upcoming album.
Years & Years is going to look a lot different going forward...
The beloved British pop band, which consisted of vocalist and It's a Sin star Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy, and Emre Turkmen and who broke out in 2015 with the release of their hit singles "King" and "Desire," just announced that while new music is on the way very soon, Years & Years is officially going to be a solo endeavor for Olly.
The band's official social media accounts posted a statement earlier today, updating fans about the line-up shift.
“Dear Y&Y fans 💕”— Years & Years (@Years & Years) 1616068802
"Dear Y&Y fans, There's been some changes that we want to fill you in on," the statement read. "This upcoming new album has been an Olly endeavour and we've decided that Years & Years will continue as an Olly solo project."
They continued:
"The three of us are still good friends. Mikey will be part of the Y&Y family and play with us live and Emre will focus on being a writer/producer. These past twelve months have been crazy for us all and we want to thank you for the love and support you’ve given us over the years (& years)."
"New Y&Y music will be coming this spring," they concluded.
While the promise of new music is very welcomed, especially since it's been three years since their last full-length project (2018's Palo Santo), fans were still quick to express both excitement and some sadness over the change in the band's makeup.

At least we know the three Kings are still working together and still on good, friendly terms!
While we wait for a new Years & Years era to begin, let's stream their banger "King" just because!
