Daytime Soap Actress Fired: Refused To Play Pro-Gay

Actress Patricia Mauceri has been fired from the ABC soap opera One Life To Live for refusing to play a gay friendly Latina mother.

Actress Patricia Mauceri has officially been fired from the ABC soap opera One Life To Live due to her reservations about appearing in a storyline involving a gay character, according to The Advocate.

Mauceri, who played Carlotta Vega since 1995, reportedly objected to having her character support a gay relationship between two male characters on the show stipulating it went against her personal beliefs.

When the actress voiced her resentment about Carlotta Vega turning into a gay friendly Latina mother, she was promptly shown the door.

Earlier this year, a similar incident happened on another daytime soap, The Young & the Restless , when actor Chris Engen walked off the set after the script called for his character to kiss another man.

Mauceri  has been replaced by actress Saundra Santiago who has previously appeared on 'One Life to Live' in a short-term role just after leaving 'Guiding Light'.

Born on April 7, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, Maureci's acting credits also include Saving Grace and Die Hard: With a Vengeance
