American Family Association Boycotts Ben & Jerry's 'Schweddy Balls'

Just in case you’re wondering what the American Family Association (AFA) is boycotting this week, look no further than Ben & Jerry’s new limited batch ice cream flavor, Schweddy Balls.

Based on the legendary Saturday Night Live skit featuring Alec Baldwin, Ana Gasteyer, and Molly Shannon, the new flavor has become a target for AFA affiliate OneMillionMoms, which is calling on their members to boycott all products distributed by the ice cream giants.

In an email, the AFA — who over the years has threatened boycotts against everything from Pepsi to Pampers — complains that “the vulgar new flavor has turned something as innocent as ice cream into something repulsive. Not exactly what you want a child asking for at the supermarket.”

The also took a jab at another Ben & Jerry’s flavor, Hubby Hubby — a special edition of Chubby Hubby — that celebrates marriage equality.

Sean Greenwood, spokesman for Ben & Jerry's, says the company has “always been about having some irreverence and having some fun ... We're not trying to offend people. Our fans get the humor."
