"We Will" tells the heartwarming story of a lesbian couple in love in a nation that has yet to recognize them as equals.

"We Will," a new Australian short film directed by Laura Nagy, has a simple message: love between two people, no matter their sexuality, is powerful, beautiful, and deserves to be recognized equally. Australia has yet to pass marriage equality, and "We Will" urges that 2016 be the year that brings a long-awaited change to that harmful ruling. The film follows Claire (Bianca Bradey) and Rachel (Madeleine Withington) as they meet on their first date through the course of their relationship until their beautiful wedding. The two women fall for each other in all sorts of intense, poetic ways, and the narration over their love story is so romantic it might just make you tear up a little (or a lot. Let's be real, it might make you legitimately sob).

"I don't want to say 'I Do,' that'd be too easy," the narration explains over exquisite shots of Claire and Rachel's wedding ceremony, "I'd rather say 'We did,' when they said we shouldn't. 'We do,' when they said we wouldn't. I'd rather say, 'We will,' even when they say we can't."

Watch "We Will" right here, and prepare to get emotional:

We certainly hope the new year brings equality to all couples in Australia as soon as possible. To everyone involved with "We Will," thank you for your beautiful work on this compelling piece!
