Fans of Charlize Theron, Diablo Cody, and indie films in general, are all pretty excited for Young Adult, the envelope-pushing dramedy directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Up In The Air).

Paramount Pictures has been treating lucky fans to unannounced pop-up screenings of the flick in cities around North America. To take the showings to the next level, Reitman and Paramount teamed up famous Los Angeles pop culture art gallery Gallery 1988 to pick artists and produce limited edition posters for the special pop-up showings.

So far, Young Adult have sprung up in Toronto, Minneapolis, and Chicago, each with an accompanying poster. A recent Austin screening, boasts this original poster by out artist, Tara McPherson.

“Named the crown princess of poster art by ELLE Magazine,” SlashFilm.com reports McPherson “has been featured in dozens of publications including Esquire, Vanity Fair, Elle, Marie Claire and the LA Times and worked with companies like Kid Robot and the TV show LOST.”

Her poster captures the void in Theron’s modern female protagonist, Mavis Gray, a teen fiction writer who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and win back her now happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When things go poorly for the former popular girl, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either.

Young Adult will be released in theaters on December 16th 2011.
