It’s a good time for Diablo Cody news with her latest flick, the Charlize Theron starrer Young Adult, opening this weekend. Now, Deadline reports that Holly Hunter has signed on to Cody’s debut directing gig, which is still referred to as “Untitled Diablo Cody Project” on IMDB.

An Oscar winning screenwriter for Juno, Cody has also penned Showtime’s United States of Tara and the horror movie with bisexual tendencies, Jennifer’s Body, in addition to writing Young Adult. But the woman who famously chronicled her days as a bisexual stripper in Minneapolis in her blog, Pussy Ranch, is trying her hand at directing with a comedy about a conservative young woman who survives a plane crash only to suffer a crisis of faith and explore her wild side in Vegas. Cody also wrote the film.

The film stars Julianne Hough as the young woman, along with Russell Brand and The Help’s Octavia Spencer. Hunter is slated to play Hough’s character’s overprotective mother.
