'Albert Nobbs' and 'Pariah' DVD Release Dates Announced
Wolfe video, the premiere distributor of LGBT content in the US, announced today that they are releasing the Oscar nominated Albert Nobbs and Independent Spirit Award winner Pariah on DVD this spring.
The Oscar nominated Albert Nobbs and Independent Spirit Award winner Pariah will be released on DVD this spring.
Pariah is scheduled to hit store shelves on April 24th, with Albert Nobbs following its lead on May 15th. Both titles are available for pre-order now from Wolfe Video.
Pariah is the story of Alike, a 17-year-old African-American woman living with her parents and younger sister in Brooklyn. Alike must navigate through the struggles of every day high school and home life, while trying to quietly embrace her identity as a lesbian. The film just landed filmmakers Dee Rees and Nekisa Cooper the John Cassavetes Award, awarded to features budgeted at less than $500,000, at last Saturday’s Independent Spirit Awards.
Albert Nobbs is the true story of a 19th century Irish woman (played by Glenn Close) who poses as a man in order to successfully navigate through the many hardships of the times. The pic landed both Close (6 time nominee) and co-star Janet McTeer Oscar nods. The drama featured a romantic story line between Close and The Kids Are All Right’s Mia Wasikowska.
The distributor also hinted that a release date for the foreign language film, Tomboy, would follow shortly. Tomboy is the coming of age story of Laure, a French teen who begins to live as a boy named Michael after she moves with her family to a new neighborhood. The film was screened at various film festivals worldwide and was the proud winner of the Teddy Jury Award at the Berlin International Film Festival and Best Narrative Feature at Seattle’s Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
