Academy Award nominated documentarian Kirby Dick’s latest button-pushing film The Invisible War, about rape and cover-up in the U.S. Military, hits theaters this Friday.

While the heinous act of rape and subsequent cover up of such crimes abounds in the U.S. Military, according to Dick’s assertion in the film, the movie has already done some good toward changing policy around how rapes will be investigated.

“Within days of seeing the film in April, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta announced a crucial change in the way in which reported rapes will be investigated in the military – and he told one of the film's executive producers that the screening was partly responsible for his decision,” according to CNN’s The Wrap.

Dick has formerly investigated the MPAA in This Film is Not Yet Rated and closeted GOP members’ making antigay policy in Outrage.
