AMC’s slow burn procedural The Killing is about as intentionally dark and dreary as anything on television, but this week’s episode allowed this season’s Lisbeth Salander-esque run-away Bullet a little light in her life when her formally unrequited affection was validated.

Bullet, a Seattle street kid played by newcomer Bex Taylor-Klaus, is intergral to this season’s case, helping detectives Linden (Mireille Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman) find a serial killer who targets runaways.  Since her first appearance this season Bullet has held a candle for Lyric (Julia Sarah Stone), who was too busy with her loser boyfriend to notice. But this week, there was a glimmer of hope in Bullet’s stark life when Lyric returned some affection.
