Lip Service creator, Harriet Braun, says she hopes her latest drama is authentic to lesbian viewers and their lives.  Braun says it was important to her that the main lesbian characters Cat, Frankie, Lou and Tess, played by Laura Fraser, Ruta Gedmintas, Roxanne McKee and Fiona Button respectively, came across as authentic to a lesbian audience.

“I wanted it to reflect life” said Braun adding, “Often gay characters in drama, the story line centers on their sexuality, so there’s stories of coming out or issues around homophobia.  I guess what I would like to see more of is gay characters where their stories are potentially about fighting crime or becoming a doctor.”
