After much anticipation, Interscope Records announced Lady Gaga’s Judas video will premiere May 2 on American Idol, reports MTV News.
Lady Gaga always seems to get the media buzzing, but Judas, in particular, has created quite a stir based on the religious overtones. Many aren’t too sure what to expect from Gaga and creative director, Laurrieann Gibson, though.
“I think that most people are already thinking that Gaga and the blasphemy and they're premeditating the approach, and I think they'll be very shocked to find out how huge and really groundbreaking the message is and how freeing the message is for all the right reasons. And it's really going to shock the world,” Gibson tells MTV News.
Gaga’s timing also seems to have her critics talking. Is “Judas” being leaked, and consequently released, so close to Holy Week, and Gaga tweeting about the song on Easter Sunday, appear to be more than a coincidence?
Gaga is also being accused, yet again, of ripping off the wild child of the 80’s, Madonna. According to The Sun, people are already comparing “Judas” with Madonna’s video “Like A Prayer” where Jesus was depicted as a black man. I’m not sure how this happens when the video hasn’t been released yet. Divine intervention, maybe?
You’ve got a week to set your DVR, little Monsters! Until then, get your Gaga fix on Thursday, April 28, when Lady Gaga performs on the The Ellen Degeneres Show.
